The port and Logistics working group’s aim is to attract italian and foreign investments to the port of Genoa, and in general to the entire economic structure of the city, that are either purely financial or made by industrial enterprises active in the port and logistics sector. The members of the group also believe that it is important to promote our city’s location and morphological and geological structure for commercial purposes, for example by highlighting the possible synergies between trade fair activities carried out in the existing infrastructure in Genoa, and touristic and cultural activities concerning the sea, transportation and the harbours.

The Port and Logistics working group has conducted a few plenary meetings, during which they analized several project development proposals concerning port and logistics presented by the members. Among those it was decided to develop, in support of the work which is being carried out by both Gruppo Grendi, creator and main sponsor of the project, and RINA Consulting SpA, the project known as BRUCO (Bi-level Underpass for Containers Operations) described in more detail below. In particular, with the aim of creating the local and international context necessary for the realisation of the project, the following was done:

  • Present it to the Advisory Board of Genoa Smart City, to submit it for approval to the management committee, who unanimously approved it.
  • Present it to italian institutions in Switzerland (italian embassy, ICE, board of italian academics in Switzerland) in order to spread awareness among potential swiss customers, with the invaluable help of the colleague Domenico Campi.
  • Present it to a number of general investors and investors specialised in infrastructure, with the goal of identifying potential subjects capable of financially supporting the project, with the invaluable help of the former assessor at the Municipality of Genoa, Giancarlo Vinacci.
